Your reaction (and the reaction of most people, as far as I can tell) to Toy Story Midway Mania is fascinating, because I was totally underwhelmed. The games were mildly fun, I thought, but no better than what I can find on a typical Nickelodeon Flash gaming site. My litmus test is whether the Wii version of the attraction (not sure if it's been released yet) is as fun as the ride...my guess is that it will be even more fun, and look even better than the washed-out displays I saw on the attraction.

I'm clearly in the minority, however, because people can't seem to get enough of the thing!

But a big thumbs up on your other two items, the Castle Walkthrough and the Zoetrope. Would love to see more small-scale attractions at Disney parks in the vein of these two.

That's the one. It's the perfect combination of boredom, terror, and sass.

I wish y'all could see the other Splash Mountain photo they took the next day, after I left. It could possibly be the best ride photo ever taken (that doesn't show breasts). It's hidden away on Facebook, though.

Chuck,
Studio Ghibli museum is the best thing ever. Totally worth another trip back to Japan. Their zoetrope thingie freaked me out. Seeing the little physical models of the cat bus with all of its legs in different positions after the strobe turned off. Wow.

They don't let you take photos inside, but:

Sorry, it was the only time we could go without Jack trying to tag along. He keeps calling us saying "We've got to go back! WE'VE GOT TO GO BACK!" If it's any consolation, Hurley kept asking for an extra seat for his friend "Dave."

And I figured you were vacationed out after spending weekends poolside with George Hamilton.

I can't believe you went to Disneyland <a href="http://dispatchesfromtheisland.blogspot.com/2009/08/more-from-disney.html" rel="nofollow">with Hurley</a> and didn't invite me.

Fine. Next time I go I'm bringing Sawyer.

Great trip! As far as Disneyland attractions I'd never experienced before, those things were pretty much my highlights as well, and basically in that order.

Actually, that photograph would maybe win.
