Great, thanks Chuck, now I have to buy this (having played the original and Sims 2) and become addicted to virtual dollhouse.

Of course, as you mentioned, it's not just playing dollhouse but a RTS game sans the awesome tanks or weaponry.

I love the idea that ghosts still interact and spook the living hell out of someone if they want to.

you make a great point aboutbeards in video games. I'm yet to try a character creator that got it right and I've tried plenty. Most of the beards are completely ridiculous or non-existant. I don't think playstation home had beards in the 10 mind I played it.

The lack of clothes & hairstyles that I find neat are basically my only complaints about the new game. Well, that & the choir music that plays every time they get one of their wishes. In every game though, they're fantastic at making very few clothes or hairstyles for males that really look good. I haven't found much CC that is truly improved either. The outfits with shirts hanging out are sloppy, the outfits with them tucked in make them look like they're also wearing Depends. Sigh.

This time around, they added more complexity to the Sims themselves. Hardcore control freaks don't seem to appreciate this as much and call it boring. With 2 kids, a husband, school and a job, I find myself telling enough folks every little thing to do in real life to want to do it for entertainment as well.

As for the Sims' looks- I'm still on the fence about that. I was never satisfied with the looks of Sim 2 Sims, especially the males. Not to mention, if you tweaked their looks enough and they ended up with kids, the kids often looked like circus show freaks. (A friend made me a Sim who looked just like Sawyer from Lost. He & his fairly attractive wife had a child and it looked like Dumb Donald from Fat Albert, only instead of the sock hat pulled down, his face was that way.)

I think after we get used to the way the new Sims look, it won't be such an issue. They're sorta like algae- they grow on you.

Totally unrelated but- the other day, the kids were flipping through the channels and found The A-Team and I thought of you, Chuck. I remember like it was yesterday you saying, "They could do more with that show, but all it is is Jump-your-Jeep-tell-a-joke-fire-your-gun-tell-a-joke-jump-your-Jeep-kiss-a-girl-tell-a-joke.". Funny the things we remember so well from 25 years ago, isn't it?

Being a girl who in her misguided youth did actually stray into a Hot Topic once in awhile, I can tell you that if that guy was the manager the store would have quickly died. He has creepy perv written all over him. (What does that say about Bobby Flay?) What is with his hair? It looks like he's wearing an ill-fitting wig. And he should really give his girlfriend her waistcoat back. Seriously, if that's an example of the "fashions" in Sims 3 it's definitely not you, it's them.
