The guy who plays the captain is an Australian actor. He was actually the host of The Mole (Australian Version). Unless you’ve been watching Australian or New Zealand soapies however I doubt you would have seen him before. This episode of Lost was very average except for the happenings on the boat.

Well, there’s a screencapture of the tombstone at the Lostpedia wiki. For some reason, that site doesn’t have a translation for the words. Have at it!

And yeah, I’m now leaning more towards the idea that the non-Oceanic 6 folks are still on the island (or elsewhere?), and I’d bet that the “survivors” don’t know that the others are alive. Unless I’m remembering wrong or missing something, I’d put the flash-forward timeline like so:

1. Sun has her baby, Hurley visits & they go to see Jin’s tombstone.
2. Kate goes on trial, gets freed, sees Jack for the first time since they returned.
3. Hurley starts seeing Charlie’s ghost, gets committed to an institution, is visited by Jack.
4. Sayid does a bunch of spy stuff, turns out to be working with Ben.
5. Jack loses it, visits a coffin, invites Kate to the airport.

So I’d bet that everything goes to pot for the gang, then either Sayid, Hurley (via Charlie), or Jack finds out that everybody else is still alive, and that’s why they have to get back.

All I know is the date listed on the headstone was the date of the crash, which leads me to believe he’s part of the lie perpetrated by the Oceanic Six in which they say everyone else on the plane died. Why they’re lying about that remains to be seen, but I guess one theory is everyone else is still on the island, and don’t want to be found…

OR everyone else is killed in a way we have yet to see.

I felt like they held pretty long on the closeup of Jin’s headstone. Anyone know how to read Korean and get clues? ;)

Well, we all knew Jin was doomed the minute Daniel Dae Kim got that DUI.

I hope he’s back on the island or something, but it just seemed that Sun’s pain was really genuine. It just felt like she was crying over a dead Jin, and not just a Jin who’s stuck on the island. But perhaps she doesn’t know he’s back on the island, and she’ll find out and get all “We need to go back!” like Jack…
