He was sitting up on my desk just now, and as soon as I opened the feline aggression page, he attacked the screen.

I'm sure it's mostly just having too much energy for a one-bedroom apartment, but there are still times when I think he knows exactly what to do to piss me off the most. There's not much in my place that I'd call irreplaceable, but one thing was a pair of martini glasses from Disneyland's Club 33 that Mac's mom got for me. The other night he climbed up on the refrigerator and knocked one of the glasses off the shelf onto the floor. It's a good thing I was pulling an all-nighter so I heard it; if I'd gotten up the next morning and walked in to feed him, I would've gotten a foot full of broken glass.

Okay, a little more unsolicited advice before I exit stage left.

I've found that playing with larger stuffed animals burns off a lot of Monsieur Puffinpants' aggression...I'll take his teddy bear/otter/rat/tiger and make it wrestle with him on the floor, try to get away, engage in a life-or-death struggle, etc. Maybe I'll even throw in a few sound effects.

I think he misses having something their own size to bat around, or kick, or scratch. Of course, if he gets carried away and bites my hand, I make it clear that playtime is over (for now, anyway).

Sounds like another cat I know...I think all the feline psychologists refer to it as "play aggression."

Don't think I haven't considered it, Larry. The problem is I've got no doubt he'd find a way to turn it back on me when I was sleeping.

An accelerometer, a cat harness, a small battery, a power transformer, a cattle prod, and a simple microcontroller could nip this in the bud.

Dude, all that would be intolerable if he was also the kind of cat that wouldn't let you pick him up, hold him. squeeze him, and say "Who's the pretty pretty? YOU are!" But he is, so that makes him the best cat ever.

And take that collar off of him. He's got the chip!

You got a maine coon, didn't you? The pictures you posted looked maine coon-ish. I'm a cat person, unabashedly, and maine coons creep me out. My brother had one, and it had a sort of smartest-loon-in-the-nuthouse demeanor. They look at you like they're wondering how much they could get for your eyeballs on the kitty black market.
