To each his and her respective own, I guess. I think she's smokin'. But then, I barely knew who Bettie Page was as more than an image before I saw the trailer and started looking at websites, so someone who's a fan is going to be able to see something else in the original.

What I think the movie does do is make Page out to be a real person instead of just some iconic image. Not just a wide-eyed innocent, and not a bondage freak, but just somebody who knew how good she looked, knew how to use it, and liked having her picture taken. That's all based on a short trailer with quick clips of a few seconds each, so I don't know if the movie as a whole keeps that up.

I just can't get excited about this because I really don't think Gretchen Mol has half the charisma Bettie Page had in a single photograph. I don't think she's sexy at all.

Harron directed American Psycho, of course...a movie that I liked at the time, but don't really need to see again. I guess I could say that about most movies.

I wonder what the real Bettie Page thinks of all this? Hopefully she's getting some financial reward out of the film...maybe she'll go on the press junket!
