Yeah, I spent a long time last night just browsing through other people's pictures, which I realize now is the whole point. It's not so much a photo hosting service as a way to link up photos from everybody's galleries.

I've got pictures that are three years old by this point; I kept meaning to put them somewhere online along with descriptions and a travelogue. That was part of the justification for starting this website, even. But I still haven't had the time or inclination to write my own gallery for it, and there's really not much point now. Now I can see how long it takes me to actually put all the pictures up on flickr and assign titles/sets/tags/etc. to them.

And I can't justify getting a pro account, either, but I did anyway. I <em>hate</em> bandwidth limits; they make me nervous and I feel like I'm cheating or something.

Gotta admit, I loves me the Flickr. I like how easy it is to upload photos. I like how you can leave little notes corresponding to certain areas of your (and other peoples'!) photos. I like the whole tagging thing, and searching the site for certain tags can be kind of amujsing. And I like the community aspect of it. It's just more fun than uploading a photo to my site and letting it sit there all sad and alone for eternity...

I don't take enough photos to warrant getting a pro account, at least not yet, but I can see how it might lose its appeal if I actually had to pay for it. And now that Blogger has made adding photos to posts REALLY easy, I rarely use the "Blog this" function on Flickr anymore, although being able to blog other people's photos so easily is also a nice feature.
