Sam & Max & Steve & Mike & Dan & Me

Sam & Max is still happening! You can’t stop it!

To promote The Devil’s Playhouse, GamePro has been running a series of videos on the history of Sam & Max. Part 3 is up now, covering the period when Telltale picked up the license and started making the episodic series. Note: I am in the video, but not enough to cause drowsiness.

And episode four of the new season, Beyond the Alley of the Dolls, is going to be released next Tuesday, July 20. It answers all kinds of questions, like, “What’s with all the Sam clones at the end of episode three?” and “Who is the mysterious Mr. S that Stinky was talking to?” and “Who is the ominous Dr. Norrington?” and “How many of these things are they going to make, anyway?”

  1. Ahhhhhh! Incorrect aspect ratio on gameplay captures! Stretched widescreen! LOTS OF TERROR!

(On the other hand, the stretched images DO use all of the available screen space that I paid for on my widescreen YouTube window, and I am a philistine, so… AHHHHH! LETTERBOXED IMAGES OF THE PRESIDENT’S OFFICE, STRETCHED EVEN WIDER! WASTED SCREEN SPACE! EXTREME TERROR!!!!!)

I expect these concerns to be addressed fully in the next episode or Telltale will no longer receive my YouTube dollar because they are just like every other company and blah blah blah entitled entitled entitled.

  2. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: This season of Sam & Max truly is the greatest Sam & Max game so far, and probably the best Telltale game so far. You can remove that ‘probably’ if Dr Norrington turns out to be Mack Salmon.

Was this the last of the GamePro videos, or will there be another one focusing on Devil’s Playhouse?

  3. Glad to hear you’re liking the games. I believe there’s one more of the GamePro videos being made, which will go over the new season in more detail. I suspect it’ll be out closer to the time of episode 5’s release.
